FileMe: File Manager

Privacy Policy

How FileMe handles your information on your Mac and when you choose to connect to other services.

Last updated: October 9, 2026

This policy applies to FileMe for macOS, developed by Andrei Constantinescu. For privacy questions, contact andrei.cristian.costa@gmail.com.

1. No developer data collection or tracking

FileMe does not require a FileMe account and does not automatically send your files, filenames, browsing history, credentials or usage activity to the developer. It contains no advertising SDKs, third-party analytics or cross-app tracking tools. The developer does not operate a FileMe file-storage, licensing or telemetry server.

2. Local files and application data

FileMe reads and processes the files and folders you choose to access to provide browsing, previews, search, file operations and tools. Preferences, workspace state, folder access bookmarks, saved connection settings, operation history, recovery records and caches may be stored locally on your Mac. This information is not automatically uploaded to the developer.

Folder access is governed by macOS permissions and the access you grant. File previews and editing operate on your selected content. Copy, move, delete, synchronization and other file actions can change files at the destinations you choose.

3. Credentials and remote connections

Saved remote credentials are handled through the macOS Keychain. When you connect to a server or storage provider, FileMe sends the authentication information and file requests needed for that connection to your selected destination. Uploads and synchronization send the files you select; downloads and remote previews receive content from that destination. The developer does not receive these transfers.

The server or service you choose may process account information, connection metadata and file content under its own privacy policy. Transport security depends on the protocol and server configuration you select.

4. Offline mode and external applications

FileMe's Offline mode blocks its own server/cloud connections, discovery, terminal actions and sharing. It does not act as a system firewall. macOS, mounted network drives, cloud-sync software and other applications may continue communicating independently. Open in an external application, sharing and terminal commands can cause other software or services to process your selected content.

5. App Store purchase verification

Apple handles payment, downloads and App Store transactions under its own policies. FileMe verifies the app purchase using Apple's StoreKit services and locally stored, Apple-signed purchase evidence. This evidence is not sent to a developer-operated licensing server. FileMe does not receive your payment-card details. Offline mode does not initiate StoreKit purchase-refresh requests.

6. Diagnostics and support

Diagnostic information and support logs are handled locally and are not automatically sent to the developer. You may choose to save a support log and share it. Review any log or attachment before sending it, as it may contain information about your environment or file operations.

If you contact support, the developer receives your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send through the email provider. This information is used to answer your request and investigate the issue. Avoid sending passwords, private keys or confidential files. Correspondence is kept as needed to handle the request and applicable obligations; you can contact the same address to request its deletion, subject to required retention.

7. Your choices and retained copies

You can manage saved preferences and connections in FileMe and folder permissions through macOS. Removing the app does not necessarily remove macOS Keychain items, application support data, exported logs, recovery files or copies on remote services. Manage those items separately. Deleting a local file does not automatically remove copies in backups or other storage locations.

The developer cannot access your local files or recover credentials or encryption secrets you have lost. Apple's system diagnostics, backups and cloud services are controlled separately by your system settings.

8. Children and this website

FileMe does not automatically collect personal information from children or other users. This policy page is hosted on GitHub Pages and contains no added analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. GitHub may process technical information about page requests under the GitHub Privacy Statement. Visiting this website is separate from using FileMe.

9. Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when FileMe's features or data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. Contact Andrei Constantinescu at andrei.cristian.costa@gmail.com with privacy questions.
